How it all started.
It all started in 2018 when our Founder and CEO Tom Dunlop had his “aha” moment.
As a General Counsel at the time, Tom was used to reviewing and managing endless contracts. As someone who is used to always thinking outside the box and striving for greatness, Tom knew there must be a better way of working, a better way to summarize contracts and extract the key information the business needed.
He teamed up with experienced software developer David Smith, and together they embarked on a journey to improve the contract process for in-house lawyers.
Initially starting out as a contract summary solution, Summize’s capabilities soon expanded to span the end-to-end contract lifecycle. The solution received rave reviews from clients due to the intuitive user experience and expert approach to implementation and onboarding.
And that was just the start for Summize…
Where are we now?
A lot has happened since our launch in 2018.
In 2020, we were the first to market with AI reviews - all within Microsoft Word. This was dubbed a complete game-changer for legal teams and still makes up a vital part of our software.
In 2022, we launched the first to market Teams and Slack integrations, setting a whole standard for leading CLM solutions.
2023 was a big year. We were already gaining traction in the US and growing our client base, so we took the leap and expanded across the continent, planting our Summize flag in Boston. Our North American growth is expanding at a huge rate, thanks to our unique approach in the market.
And then, in 2024, we were the first to market with native CLM inbox integrations for Outlook and Gmail – meeting businesses in the tools they already know and love.
We could go on to mention the launch of even more integrations and our leading AI functionality, but instead we’ll let you know about our reported four consecutive years of 100%+ ARR growth.
But we’re not stopping there, we’re on a mission. We’re making our software even smarter, making our team even bigger and innovating to make contract processes faster and smarter not just for legal teams, but the ENTIRE business.
